Rev. Dr. Néstor Gómez

Rev. Dr. Néstor Gómez is the middle son of three boys and one girl, originally from Medellín, Colombia. In Colombia, they call us Paisas. He has served in both Spanish and English-speaking churches as associate pastor and as lead pastor in the Central Rocky Mountain Region. Néstor serves as a Second vice moderator of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), member of the Division of Overseas Ministries Board of Directors and representative of Common Global Ministries Board, and board member of the National Council of Churches. Currently, Néstor serves as a Lead Pastor at the First Congregational Church in Stamford, CT. He has a Ph.D. in Religion and Social Change and postgraduate studies at the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey. He has been an affiliate faculty at Universidad Bautista, Regis University, Columbia College and Claremont School of Theology. Teaching is one of his passions! In his free time, Néstor enjoys reading, walking, traveling and listening to music. A good book: Nobody Cries When We Die (Patrick Reyes); an excellent song: La Canción más Hermosa del Mundo (Joaquín Sabina); a good walking route: Cherry Creek Trail (Denver); a nice place to visit: Louvre Museum (Paris). He also loves sharing with people of all ages and knowing about other cultures. Néstor seems himself as a person with a hybrid identity. ("We will never know who we are until that we cross the border to meet, know and learn from each other.") One of his favorite quotations: “Until the Lion tells the story, the hunter will always be the hero.” (African Proverb).
