Rabbi David Markus
David is co-rabbi of Temple Beth El of City Island (New York, NY), a founding builder of Bayit: Your Jewish Home (a spiritual innovation start-up for all ages and stages), adjunct rabbinics faculty at the Academy for Jewish Religion – New York, and permanent spiritual direction faculty in the ALEPH Ordination Programs. A Rabbis Without Borders fellow, David also previously served as Board co-chair of ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal. By day, David presides as judicial referee in New York Supreme Court (9th Judicial District) as part of a parallel career in government service. David is North America's only pulpit rabbi to maintain a full-time oath of office. David earned dual ordination as rabbi and mashpia (spiritual director) from ALEPH, his J.D. from Harvard Law School, his M.P.P. from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, and his B.A. from Williams College. He lives in suburban New York.
