Helen Florence Kurczynski

Helen Florence Kurczynski joined University Hospital as the Manager of Chaplaincy Services in July, 2017 and is charged with coordinating spiritual programming and outreach efforts that connect and integrate Chaplaincy services with all segments of the hospital and local community. Helen completed her Master of Divinity degree (MDiv) at Moravian Theological Seminary in Bethlehem, PA where she is now a member of the Board of Trustees. Helen completed her clinical residency at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), a Regional Level I Trauma Center and ABA/ACS Regional Burn Center in Pennsylvania. Helen has been practicing Kadampa Buddhism for over a decade and is a senior student at Kadampa Meditation Center in New York City. She leads monthly worship services for the recently deceased (Powa Ceremony) and teaches on special topics, such as Transforming Loss & Grief. Helen has engaged in meditation retreats in Brazil, Spain and the UK, and each year engages in meditation retreats at the Kadampa National Temple in upstate New York. Helen’s special interests lie in the development of practical approaches that can effectively support the spiritual resiliency of staff, while simultaneously nurturing a sacred experience within the medical environment for patients and their families.
