Rabbi Craig Marantz feels very blessed to be a rabbi - to serve God and people; to live, teach, and learn Torah; to sustain faith; and, to bring healing to the world. Ordained in 1999 from HUC-JIR in New York City, Rabbi Marantz also has a Master’s degree in Education from Stanford University and a Bachelor’s degree in History from UCLA. He says of his rabbinic calling: “I enjoy accompanying congregants along their lifelong path of Jewish learning and spirituality. I especially appreciate the opportunity to shape a sense of community within my congregation, through happy times and sad.” In July 2016. Rabbi Marantz became Senior Rabbi at Emanuel Congregation. Rabbi Marantz also served as Rabbi at Congregation Kol Haverim in Glastonbury, CT, as Associate Rabbi at Temple Israel in Omaha, Nebraska, and before that, as Director of Education at The Temple in Atlanta, Georgia. Rabbi Marantz has a particular zest for music and prayer. His pursuit of justice led him to America's Journey for Justice March from Selma to Washington to support the NAACP's fight against racism. A native of Los Angeles, Rabbi Marantz is married to his wife Betsy, and they have two children Cara and Jared.
